80eight has begun rolling out Business Suite, giving a company its own account on the platform rather than a personal account used for business.
What a business account carries
Its own payment identity. A business account holds its own name, logo and PayID. The surfaces a customer sees — the Pay Profile, a till, a request screen — show the business's details rather than those of whichever team member happens to be signed in.
Team access. A business can invite team members and assign roles, so the person running a till does not need the access of the person who owns the account.
Verification in the app. Business verification runs inside the app, alongside the identity checks already in place for individuals.
Treasury
A business account can hold ZAR8 and earn on rand balances that would otherwise sit idle between supplier runs. That facility is opt-in per account, and balances remain withdrawable.
"A business is not a person with a larger balance," said the 80eight product team. "It has people in it who need different levels of access, and a payment identity that has to belong to the company rather than to whoever is holding the phone."
Availability
Business Suite is rolling out rather than switching on at once. Team management, business onboarding and business verification are on the web app, with the mobile screens following.
